Ground Source Heat Pumps from Borehole Drilling to Full Installation - Borrteknik Drilling Scotland

Ground Source Heating

Renewable heat energy which is both energy efficient and eco-friendly from your ground source heat pump

Ground source heating systems are becoming increasingly popular as clients wish to benefit from this - both energy efficient and eco-friendly - renewable geo-energy. Modern environmental planning policies set targets for the use of renewable energy to reduce CO2 emissions for all new developments, and in order to encourage the switch overall, the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme was put in place meaning you make a profit on your ground source heating investment.

Ground source heat pumps have several advantages:

  • Can reduce your carbon footprint: heat pumps can lower your home’s carbon emissions, depending on which fuel you are replacing. Can provide space heating and hot water.
  • Can lower fuel bills, especially if you are currently using conventional electric heating.
  • It’s often classed as a ‘fit and forget’ technology because it needs little maintenance.

David Beatt Borrteknik AB offers geothermal drilling and installation for ground source heating and cooling systems for both private and commercial systems.

What is a Ground Source Heat Pump?

A ground source heat pump extracts heat from the ground by circulating fluid through pipes buried deep underground. Heat is concentrated within the system via a compression cycle, and then circulated throughout your property to provide heating and hot water in an energy efficient way. Ground source heat pumps can operate with the lowest running cost of any heating system.

Installation of Ground Source Heat Pumps

The key to ensuring your ground source heat pump performs best for you, is ensuring the design and installation are well-suited to your property and energy needs. Our expert technicians at DB Borrteknik AB have years of experience in the industry and can provide recommendations upfront.

We use superior Wassara drilling technology, which uses water instead of air to drive down the drill for increased efficiency and depths - even in difficult places where air driven drills do not work. This means that our drill rigs are capable of drilling to depths exceeding 300m (though for most of our geothermal drilling projects in Scotland, depths of 200m are more standard), drilling geothermal boreholes and install vertical loop geothermal collector probes for a variety of uses. High quality single or double loop collector probes, and a range of grouting options is used as needed as we know how to achieve the optimum performance from your ground source heating system.

Finally, ongoing maintenance is normally minimal but essential to ensure your ground source heat pump performs well for years to come.

Ground Source Heat Pumps and the Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme

Eco-friendly energy via a Ground Source Heat Pump offers a number of advantages in its own right;

  • Save money on fuel bills and maintenance costs
  • No more need for fuel deliveries
  • Enjoy a secure, silent and reliable heating system for years to come

But there is one major advantage you may not know about; the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme.

From 2014, the RHI has been rewarding people for opting to use a renewable heating system, so much so that people are making a profit on investing in this kind of system. Take a look at our Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme page for more information on how you can make money from a ground source heat pump.
